Arden Shore

We have a 24 hour community based group home in Waukegan for boys with serious emotional and behavioral problems. Most of these youth have experienced abuse, neglect, loss or other forms of trauma that have led to an inability to function in normal family and community settings. For boys ages 10 to 19. These youth are facing such issues as attention deficit disorder, disruptive behavior disorders, mood disorders, impulse control disorders, detachment issues, post traumatic stress disorders conduct disorders, adjustment disorders, substance abuse, and sexual behavior issues. We provide a structured, safe and nurturing environment and, for the first time many of the boys have people in their lives that care about their welfare. The caring community of Arden Shore helps the boys develop a sense of self worth.

Our goal is to help the boys improve their ability to function in a family and social setting and improve their academic or vocational skills. Individual and group therapy focuses on such topics as anger management, vocational skills, budgeting, menu planning, and healthy lifestyle. The boys also attend public school and participate in community activities, learning coping skills and how to behave in social settings.

We work to help the boys return to their family or be placed in foster care. In the case of the older boys, we help transition them into a more independent living program. In FY2008, we served a total of 32 clients.

Please donate to the group home with a financial gift or in-kind contribution. The home and the boys in our care have on-going building, household and personal needs. For more information, please contact the development office at (847) 623-1730, ext. 132.
